Below are the descriptions of classes taught by the SIP Team (Kym, Jack, & Juliana). These descriptions, as well as all of the those led by our SIP Affiliates, are included in the details of each class on the SIP Calendar.
Jack and Juliana will guide you on outdoor boot camp style workouts with a bit of running, cardio, strength, and agility. All outside, untethered from Zoom. Usually equipment free on Tuesdays and with dumbbells on Thursdays.
It's a hybrid of a live and a virtual boot camp!!! Some will be with Kym on the basketball courts at King Middle School (check the calendar to confirm) and some will be at their homes. These workouts are usually HIIT based, mostly using body weight although sometimes with dumbbells (if you don't have any, you can get creative with using water bottles, etc. as weights). We try to provide modifications as well as progressive options to ensure you get what you need, but feel free to ask. Definitely do what works for your body. Usually Tuesdays are focused on lower body and Thursdays are full body cardio.
Take a break in the middle of your day to reinvigorate your afternoon. This all-around full body workout (with more fun music) mostly uses body weight, although 3-8 lb. hand weights are helpful for better strength work.
By now many of us have purchased indoor cycling bikes and/or trainers. If so, please join Kym for an indoor cycle a la spin. We'll do the workout in gallery view, so turn on your video as you wish, so we can see each other's smiling faces. You can also just watch and follow along with Kym.
If you are having issues with hips, knees, or ankles (heck, even with lower back), this class is for you. Juliana focuses on proper glute activation and strengthening exercises, all selected for "pre-hab" and rehab. She does this class immediately before a couple of her outdoor workouts because she knows she will have better running, squatting, and jumping form. EQUIPMENT: We'll be using loop bands and hand weights for this workout. If you are interested in adding to your home gym, we suggest that you obtain loop bands such as these LetsFit or Shogun or anything you can purchase locally.
Join us for our typical "Leg Day" that we used to do every Friday morning after Kym's cycling class. If we are fortunate to have good weather and not in quarantine, we'll be at King Middle School. Otherwise, join us via Zoom. Check the calendar each week to be sure. We'll be focusing on glute activation and strengthening exercises. Usually includes Bulgarian lunges, goblet squats, pistol squats, step ups and/or box jumps. EQUIPMENT: We'll be using loop bands and hand weights for this workout.
Jack and Juliana will guide you on outdoor boot camp style workouts with a bit of running, cardio, strength, and agility. All outside, led via Zoom or just a phone connection with an option to meet live but socially distant at Oakland Tech on Tuesday and Thursday evenings
Full body strength workouts for all levels focused more on form, range of motion, and functional fitness than cardio, although there is usually a sprinkle or two of sweat inducing moves. We will include balance exercises as well as stability work. We are incorporating basic dumbbells but much of the work can be done effectively with just body weight.
